Mothering Sunday is a cherished tradition at Christ Church, a special day to honour mothers, carers, and all those who nurture us in our lives and faith. Held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, this day offers a moment to reflect on the nurturing love of God and to express gratitude for those who care for us.
Join us for a family-friendly service on Sunday, 30th March 2025, at 10:30 am, where we will come together to celebrate and give thanks. The service will include special prayers and moments of reflection, offering everyone the opportunity to show appreciation for those who provide love and support in our lives. As part of this tradition, flowers will be distributed as a token of gratitude to mothers and carers in attendance.
But the celebration doesn’t stop there! As part of our "Light Up with Love" event, we invite you to light a candle in honour of the special people in your life—whether it's your mum, gran, aunt, sister, or anyone who has been like a mother to you. This tradition began in 2018, and over the years, we’ve lit hundreds of candles to fill the church with a warm, glowing tribute to those who nurture us.
For the 7th year, you can join us in this beautiful tradition on Mothering Sunday, 30th March 2025. Each candle costs just £1.00, and the names of those being honoured will be displayed during the service. All proceeds from this event will go towards the upkeep of our wonderful church
How to Take Part and Add a Name:
In Person: Visit us at church on Tuesdays morning or during our Saturday coffee mornings to add your loved one's name.
Online: Follow the instructions on this page or look for our Facebook post where you can donate and submit names.
We look forward to sharing this joyful celebration with you and honouring those who have touched our lives with their love and care. Whether you’re lighting a candle or simply joining us in the service, Mothering Sunday at Christ Church is a special moment of gratitude and community.
Together, let’s light up our church with love and give thanks for those who have nurtured and cared for us.
