Bublé and Bubbles Evening a Sparkling Success at Christ Church

Bublé and Bubbles Evening a Sparkling Success at Christ Church

Over 100 people filled Christ Church on Saturday evening for a truly special Bublé and Bubbles night — an evening of smooth tunes, candlelight, and community spirit.

Guests were treated to a wonderful atmosphere as the church was transformed with glowing candles and lanterns, creating the perfect setting for an evening of live music inspired by the timeless charm of Michael Bublé.

Seth McNamee, who headlined the evening, shared his appreciation after the event:

“Amazing evening @christchurchsb Bublé evening. Thanks to all who attended to make it an incredible evening. Thanks to the church for having me and the hard work they all put in to light up the church with candles and lanterns — it looked fab.”

The event was made possible thanks to the dedication of the organisers and volunteers who set up, decorated, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Their efforts helped create a warm and joyful atmosphere that everyone could enjoy.

With over a hundred smiling faces, sparkling drinks, and plenty of singing along, it was an unforgettable night that truly brought the community together.

A huge thank you to Seth and everyone involved in making the evening such a memorable success — we’re already looking forward to the next one!

Dedication of Altar Frontal and Nine Lessons and Carols Service Brings Together

On Thursday, 19th December, Christ Church was filled with warmth, reflection, and community spirit during our annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, where we also witnessed the dedication of our beautiful new purple altar frontal. The frontal was generously donated in loving memory of two remarkable women, Brenda Dyson and Margaret Pickles, both of whom faithfully served Christ Church for many years as members of the Christ Church Mothers' Union and the church choir.

Help Us Re-start Our 200-Year-Old Church Clock: A Call for Community Support

The clock on Christ Church's tower has been a symbol of time and tradition in Sowerby Bridge for over 200 years. Installed in the early 19th century, it has faithfully kept the town in step with the passing hours. It’s chiming has marked weddings, celebrations, Remembrance Day services, and everyday life. However, the clock now stands still, and we need your help to bring it back to life.

Gardening Group Taking a Winter Break

As the colder months set in, our dedicated Christ Church Gardening Group will be taking a well-deserved break over the winter. After months of hard work maintaining and beautifying the church grounds, it’s time for a rest before we gear up for the new growing season.

Christ Church Honours Parish War Heroes

For many years, the names of these heroes have been inscribed on our memorial, a poignant reminder of the price paid for our freedom. Now, thanks to ongoing research and contributions from local families, we’ve added personal stories, service details, and photographs to accompany the names of the fallen. These updates aim to bring to life the memory of those who left home to serve their country and never returned.
