Steeton Male Voice Choir Returns to Christ Church

Christ Church Sowerby Bridge is delighted to announce the return of Steeton Male Voice Choir for what promises to be a wonderful Evening of Music and Song on Saturday 19th September 2026 at 7:30pm.

The concert forms part of our year-long celebrations marking 500 Years of Christian Witness in the Parish of Sowerby Bridge. Throughout 2026 we have been reflecting on the rich history of our parish while looking forward with hope, bringing together people from across the community through a diverse programme of events. Welcoming Steeton Male Voice Choir back to Christ Church is another highlight in this very special anniversary year.

Steeton Male Voice Choir has built an excellent reputation across Yorkshire for its outstanding musical performances, blending traditional male voice choir favourites with lighter, contemporary pieces. Their rich harmonies, engaging presentation and unmistakable Yorkshire warmth make every performance a memorable experience.

The choir has always received a warm welcome at Christ Church, and we are thrilled to welcome them back once again. Whether you are a regular supporter of choral music or simply looking for an enjoyable evening with family and friends, this concert offers something for everyone.

The beautiful setting and superb acoustics of Christ Church provide the perfect backdrop for live music. As the choir's voices fill the church, guests can enjoy not only an exceptional musical performance but also the opportunity to experience one of Sowerby Bridge's most historic buildings during this landmark anniversary year.

Revd. Tommy Daglish, Vicar of Christ Church Sowerby Bridge, said:

"Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, lifting our spirits and helping us glimpse something of God's beauty and joy. As we continue celebrating 500 years of Christian witness in our parish, we're delighted to welcome Steeton Male Voice Choir back to Christ Church. Their previous visit was a fantastic evening, and I'm sure this concert will be just as memorable. Whether you're a regular at Christ Church or visiting us for the first time, you'll receive a warm welcome, and we hope you'll join us for this special celebration of music, community and our shared heritage."

Mothering Sunday Service 2025: A Special Day of Celebration and Blessing

This year's Mothering Sunday Service at Christ Church was a truly special and heartfelt celebration. Over 150 candles were lit during the service as part of our "Lighting Christ Church with Love" tradition, honouring mothers and all those who have acted as mother figures in our lives. These candles represented the love, care, and nurturing we have received from those who have supported us, and the sight of the church illuminated with so many flickering lights was a beautiful symbol of the community’s shared gratitude.

The Church Clock at Christ Church is Ticking Once Again!

We are delighted to announce that the much-loved clock on our church tower is once again fully operational. After nearly 60 years of service, the motor driving the clock mechanism on all four faces of the tower failed in late October 2024. Thanks to the generosity of our community, a successful fundraising campaign, and the expertise of Lancashire Clockmakers, the clock is now back to keeping perfect time.
