This year Christ Church are taking part in Heritage Open Day.  This is our first online and in person event.  On Saturday 18th September church will be open from 10am till 3pm for you to explore and find out how food and it’s production has changed in the last 200 years.

To join in online, why not head over to our website, where you will find a wealth of information as well as the history of our church.

We will look back in history to what both the rich and poor Victorians ate, We also look at the Rhubarb Triangle as well as two local foods, Yorkshire Pudding and Lancashire Hotpot.  As a Fairtrade church, we take a look at Food choices today: Environment, Ethics and Social Justice.

Christ Church is the parish church of Sowerby Bridge.  This year we celebrate our 200th anniversary of the current building, take a look at the Victorian stained-glass windows, as well as our unusual horseshoe gallery.

Whilst in the town, why not take a walk to the Puzzle Hall Community Pub in partnership with the Sowerby Bridge High Street Heritage Action Zone, as they host the Sowerby Bridge Dish poll and award ceremony.

With regards to the current situation with COVID, the church council have set up a one-way system in church, which we ask that you kindly follow.  Unfortunately, this year we will not be providing refreshments.

For more information please contact our churchwarden, Peter on 07720 745 230
