Seven Confirmed at Ripon Cathedral: A Day of Faith, Joy, and Commitment

Seven Confirmed at Ripon Cathedral: A Day of Faith, Joy, and Commitment

Today, Sunday 1st June, was a truly special day in the life of Christ Church as seven members of our congregation made their confirmation vows at a moving service held at the stunning Ripon Cathedral, presided over by Bishop Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds.

Among those confirmed were three adults – Rebecca, Malcolm, and Rhys – and four children – Rosie, Tabatha, Neo, and Hayley. Each one has spent time preparing spiritually for this important step in their journey of faith, and it was a joy to witness them publicly affirm their commitment to Christ in such a sacred and historic setting.

Our entire Christ Church family has been holding these candidates in prayer over the past few weeks, and many made the journey to Ripon to support them in person, creating a real sense of community and shared celebration.

Revd. Tommy, who has led the group through their preparation, shared his joy at the service:

“It has been a real privilege to walk alongside each of our candidates in the weeks leading up to today. Confirmation is not the end of a journey but the start of a new chapter in faith, and I pray they continue to grow in courage, compassion, and love as disciples of Christ. Ripon Cathedral provided a stunning and holy setting for this special day – and I’m incredibly proud of each one of them.”

We give thanks for this special milestone in the lives of our newly confirmed and look forward to seeing how their faith continues to flourish within our church family

Christ Church Lit Once More Thanks to Generous Donation

Mothering Sunday Service 2025: A Special Day of Celebration and Blessing

This year's Mothering Sunday Service at Christ Church was a truly special and heartfelt celebration. Over 150 candles were lit during the service as part of our "Lighting Christ Church with Love" tradition, honouring mothers and all those who have acted as mother figures in our lives. These candles represented the love, care, and nurturing we have received from those who have supported us, and the sight of the church illuminated with so many flickering lights was a beautiful symbol of the community’s shared gratitude.

The Church Clock at Christ Church is Ticking Once Again!

We are delighted to announce that the much-loved clock on our church tower is once again fully operational. After nearly 60 years of service, the motor driving the clock mechanism on all four faces of the tower failed in late October 2024. Thanks to the generosity of our community, a successful fundraising campaign, and the expertise of Lancashire Clockmakers, the clock is now back to keeping perfect time.

Dedication of Altar Frontal and Nine Lessons and Carols Service Brings Together

On Thursday, 19th December, Christ Church was filled with warmth, reflection, and community spirit during our annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, where we also witnessed the dedication of our beautiful new purple altar frontal. The frontal was generously donated in loving memory of two remarkable women, Brenda Dyson and Margaret Pickles, both of whom faithfully served Christ Church for many years as members of the Christ Church Mothers' Union and the church choir.
